SC House passes Tucker Hipps bill

The South Carolina House voted Wednesday to approve the "Tucker Hipps Transparency Act," according to WYFF4. The bill, named after the Clemson University student who died in 2014 while participating in a fraternity event, will require colleges to post information regarding violations by fraternities and sororities.

Under the bill, violations related to alcohol, drugs, hazing and sexual assaults are required to be posted. It is intended to provide students and their families with a resource for gaining background information when choosing a Greek organization.

The process would mimic the "conduct report" system set up at Clemson University following Hipps' death.

The bill was approved unanimously in the South Carolina House, and Hipps' parents were in attendance for the vote.
