Carolina Productions fall sneak peek

With the start of school right around the corner, most everyone is looking forward to getting back on campus and catching up with friends. Carolina Productions kicks off with special events during Welcome Week and continues with more free events, ranging from movies to comedians, throughout the year.

Some of the biggest events for the year, as well as more details on these, will be revealed at the Calendar Launch Party, but CP president Stephen Simmons gave a couple sneak peaks.

Freshmen are always encouraged to attend the annual hypnotist show in the Russell House Ballroom on Aug. 17 and see if they will be cast under the hypnotist's spell.

Kenan Thompson, one of SNL's longest-running cast members and star of the cult classic, "Good Burger," will be performing at the Koger Center on Aug. 25.

This semester, CP will also host a foreign film festival, a former Olympian and a comedy festival for Disability Awareness Month. CP members will be distributing calendars on Greene Street during Welcome Week, and calendars are also available outside their office on the third floor of Russell House.

Additionally, there will be many more enticing incentives at events this year. Be on the lookout for Insomina cookies at CP movies and prize drawings after attending one of their events.

This semester, CP’s goal is to connect with the 30,000+ Carolina students, not just students passing by Russell House. This fall semester, CP members will be asking for your opinions on Greene Street, Pickens Street Bridge and the Moore School of Business in order to find what events students would most like to see at USC.

“Our hope is that this will better help spread the word about our events, get more new students involved in CP, and grow campus-wide involvement in the event planning of future semesters,” Simmons said.
