As university administrators consider banning fraternity rush at USC, another fraternity was suspended Friday. Two other fraternities were also placed on probation in recent weeks.

Pi Kappa Phi was suspended from all chapter events and activities. Three other USC fraternities are also currently suspended: Delta Tau Delta, Sigma Chi and Alpha Tau Omega.

Two other fraternities have faced punishment for misconduct this semester. Kappa Alpha and Chi Psi were both placed on probation until Dec. 31 over separate alcohol related incidents in late August. Both chapters were also fined.

No sororities have faced violations this semester, according to the Fraternity and Sorority Organizational Conduct website.

This news comes as administration, led by USC President Harris Pastides, is seriously considering taking unprecedented steps to ban pledging and tighten restrictions on other aspects of Greek life at USC. Spokesman Wes Hickman told The State these incidents will be taken into consideration in future discussions.

“There is no doubt that incidents like these impact our discussions with students, alumni and national offices about those long-term issues of recruitment and pledging,” Hickman said.
