USC — Upstate chancellor to serve as interim president as search continues

Friday, the UofSC Board of Trustees announced who would be taking over for President Pastides. News 4's Ward Jolles has more.

After a week of forums with university presidential candidates, the Board of Trustees did not choose a candidate to replace USC President Harris Pastides.

The board has selected Brendan Kelly, chancellor of USC — Upstate, to serve as the interim president of the university.

The Presidential Search Committee selected Joseph T. "Jay" Walsh, Robert L. "Bob" Caslen, William F. Tate and John S. Applegate as the four finalists to present to the Board of Trustees. The board interviewed all four candidates on Friday before not selecting any finalist.

The university has not made it clear what the next steps will be.
