USC COVID-19 update: August 26

The university updated the COVID-19 dashboard Wednesday, showing that the university now has 188 active student cases and one employee case. This is based on data gathered on Aug. 25.

New cases per day are up to 97, compared to 0 on Monday, while the total number of active cases is now at 189, compared to 94 on Monday, and the highest total case count of the past week. 

From the period between Aug. 21 and Aug. 25, 1,754 students and 181 employees were tested. This is down from 2,221 students and 495 employees tested from the last recorded week. 

The student positive rate for this week is at 8.8%, compared to 2.8% the week before, and the employee positive rate is at 0%, compared to 0.4% last week.

The isolation and quarantine spaces at Bates West and National Advocacy Center respectively are at 12.6% compared to 4.9% last week. There are now 249 spots left, with 36 in use. 

In total, since Aug. 1, there have been 244 student and 11 employee cases.
