Gamecock Softball played two games against the University of Tennessee Volunteers over the weekend of March 23, 2024. The Gamecocks, ranked No. 28, lost 1-2 to the Volunteers on March 23 and 0-7 on March 24, making the team's current record 22-9. Notably, senior infielder Denver Bryant doubled with a runner on and two outs in the fourth, but it wasn't enough to push the Gamecocks forward to a win. The game series wrapped up on March 25 at the Carolina Softball Stadium at Beckham Field.
The South Carolina baseball team earned its first SEC series victory of the 2024 season with a win over No. 3 Vanderbilt on March 24. 2024. The Gamecocks beat the Commondores 8-4, 8-3 and 10-2 over the three games.
No. 1 overall seed South Carolina women's basketball kicked off its 2024 NCAA Women's Tournament run with a 91-39 first-round victory over No. 16 seed Presbyterian on Friday, March 22. The Gamecocks then defeated No. 8 North Carolina 88-41 in the second round on Sunday to advance to the Sweet Sixteen. The Gamecocks will now travel to Albany, New York, where it will take on the the winner of Monday's game between No. 5 seed Oklahoma and No. 4 seed Indiana.
Visitors from across South Carolina and the Southeast convened in Columbia, South Carolina on March 16, 2024, for the 42nd annual St. Pat's in Five Points. This year's festival featured its largest musical lineup, with over 40 local and regional acts from various genres performing across five stages and multiple Five Points-based music venues.
South Carolina softball saw three wins, but still fell short in two over the weekend, defeating Boston University 3-0, University of Minnesota 4-0 and Michigan State University 8-0 and losing to NC State 4-0 and Northwestern 3-4 during the Garnet & Black Invitational. The No. 23 Gamecocks improved its record and are now 21-7 for the 2024 season.
Local artist Thomas Humphries has been creating sculptures out of repurposed items since college. The medium has allowed Humphries to express passion through welding found materials into art, he said. Humphries' work can be found at the Riverbanks Zoo and Garden, South Carolina State Fairgrounds, West Columbia Riverwalk and other spaces throughout Columbia.

South Carolina then traveled to Clemson on Sunday to close out the series with a 5-4 loss at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

The team will continue its nine-game homestead on Tuesday when it hosts Gardner-Webb.
2024 marks USC Dance Marathon's 26th year of fundraising for Prisma Health Children's Hospital - Midlands. The largest student-run philanthropic organization on campus, Dance Marathon has been operating at USC since 1999 and has raised over $8,000,000 for the Children's Hospital. This year, Dance Marathon raised a total of $715,107 after months of planning, events and fundraising before the main event, which took place on Feb. 24 at the Strom Thurmond Wellness and Fitness Center. During the event, students formed teams and participated in line dancing, games, and contests to raise money for the more than 150,000 children serviced by Prisma.
The South Carolina baseball team swept its opening series against Miami-Ohio on Feb. 16, 17 and 18, 2024, at Founders Park. The Gamecocks started the weekend with a 5-1 victory, followed by high scoring wins of 11-4 and 14-0. The team is ranked No. 25 in the nation.

The Gamecocks' defense played a large role in the 79-62 victory over the Wildcats. Fans across the arena stormed the court following the game, with players encouraging them to run onto the court. South Carolina is now 4-2 in conference play.
The Gamecock women's tennis team kicked off its 2023-24 season with a 2-0 record after defeating the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and Presbyterian Blue Hoses on Jan. 21, 2024. Juniors Sarah Hamner and Misa Malkin performed claimed a 6-3 doubles victory against the Chanticleers. Graduate student Ayana Akli secured a win in her singles match, 6-3, 5-0, and graduate student Elise Mills also dominated her singles match, going 6-0, 6-1. South Carolina will hit the road next to take on the University of Arizona in Athens, Georgia, on Jan. 26, 2024.
The Gamecocks women's basketball team locked in a win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs Sunday afternoon, holding onto its undefeated record. The team kept the lead in all four periods, ending the Jan. 7 match with a score of 89-66. Bree Hall scored 15 points, helping to close an uncomfortably close margin in the third quarter with assistance during the rest of the game from Kamilla Cardoso, who scored 13 points. Up next, the Gamecocks are scheduled to face Missouri Thursday on the road.
The South Carolina men's basketball team defeated Mississippi State on Jan. 6, 2024, at Colonial Life Arena. The Gamecocks faced the Bulldogs in the opening game of SEC play for the season and are now 13-1 for the sixth time in school history.
The Gamecocks for Israel student organization at USC held a rally on Dec. 7, 2023, to show support for Israel and call for an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Members of the Jewish community in Columbia and allies gathered on Greene Street while Jewish students and community leaders gave speeches. Speakers included second-year international business student and president of Hillel at USC Casey Fitzgerald, Rabbi Sruly Epstein of Chabad at USC and Alpha Epsilon Pi President Bari Klarberg. The rally was interrupted by a group of pro-Palestine counter-protestors but quickly resumed after campus police and several members of the rally intervened.
Gamecocks men's basketball continued its strong start Monday night with a 65-53 win against Notre Dame. For the first time since the 2016-17 season, South Carolina is undefeated through six games. Junior guard Meechie Johnson was the star of the game, scoring a career-high 29 points and carrying the Gamecocks to victory.
The University of South Carolina matches up against Clemson University for the 120th annual Palmetto Bowl on Nov. 25, 2023, at Williams-Brice Stadium. The Tigers took the lead and never looked back, defeating the Gamecocks 16-7.
