Texas Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor became a household name Sunday when his fist connected with Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista's jaw, igniting a brawl that would result in multiple ejections. Not only was Sunday's game the final of seven that the two teams will play this regular season, it was also the final chapter of a baseball saga that dates back to last season's ALDS (yes, the one that took place seven months ago).

Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman responded to the critics Tuesday night when he belted two home runs, raising his batting average to a whopping .235 and his season home run total to three. His pedestrian .288 on-base percentage is over 100 points below second baseman Daniel Murphy's batting average, and while that is in part due to a hot start from Washington's new acquisition, Zimmerman isn't exactly setting the world on fire.

The SEC has a long history of being one of the most star-studded conferences in college baseball. In fact, 62 former SEC players made opening day MLB rosters this season. With the 2016 season at an approximate midpoint, it seems like a good point to reflect on the stars that have established themselves this season, so I will be giving out my midseason awards. A lot has changed over these first two months. None of the players I elected to my preseason SEC all-league team will be getting midseason awards, although a few earned honorable mentions.

South Carolina's previous 13-game winning streak had been epitomized by clean baseball and clutch hitting, but only the latter was on display in their 6-5 loss to the College of Charleston. Multiple late-inning rallies for the Gamecocks pushed the game into the 13th inning, but costly mental and physical errors ultimately allowed the Cougars to snap their streak.
