This year's Homecoming has already been host to a series of events including cultural fairs, Spurs in Struts and a special Homecoming edition of Hip-Hop Wednesday. These events are designed to let students express pride in their school as well as meet new people and enjoy some well-earned time off from class. With these events in the past, there are still more to come, giving students plenty of time to enjoy USC's Homecoming of 2017.

South Carolina Pride lit up Main Street as part of their 28th annual parade and celebration on Oct. 21. Floats were on display in support of the LGBTQ community living in South Carolina, and thousands of people showed up to watch the parade and promote togetherness for everyone involved.

A bond bill which would borrow around $250 million to be used for state education renovation has been sent to
the floor of the Statehouse. However, Gov. Henry McMaster has stated he would
prefer to veto the bill in order to make room for a new bill which would give
money to redesign South Carolina transportation infrastructure, despite the
fact that the state has already more than doubled the infrastructure budget over the past seven years.

The USC College of Nursing
hosted a mass casualty practice exercise Tuesday at Williams-Brice Stadium. The
exercise was the result of $2.5 million and four years' worth of
research. Practice of mass casualty incidents is done to prepare for patients flooding a hospital, which happens during an MCI and can complicate the triage process.
