In our opinion: SC Mission 2011 efforts applauded

This Friday and Saturday, clinical volunteers will provide free health care services to any adult with urgent medical needs. SC Mission 2011: Midlands, the two-day free health care clinic, has been organized and sponsored by United Way of the Midlands, local area hospitals and medical centers and a number of other nonprofit organizations.

We applaud the efforts of these organizations and the selfless people providing their time and hard work to make this event possible. SC Mission 2011: Midlands has received so much positive response that volunteers are actually being turned away. While it is sometimes difficult to accept, there are many people in Columbia and the Midlands, not to mention the rest of the country, who are unable to receive basic health care services, and to garner such strong support for a cause to help out those in need is admirable.

SC Mission 2011: Midlands does not require any qualifications of patients, so those who are uninsured or who are otherwise unable to afford or receive basic medical, dental or eye care should take advantage of this generous opportunity provided by these individuals of the Midlands community.
