Are you sick of hearing about how good Michael Jordan was, mostly because you're too young to have ever seen him live?
Well, there's good news. His Airness is the majority owner of a basketball team and, while there's a 99 percent chance Jordan won't be playing, it's still just an hour-and-a-half drive to watch him watch the NBA's Charlotte Hornets play.
There's a lot of buzz surrounding the Hornets in the 2014-15 season, and those of you who didn't stop reading after that pun have a number of reasons to check out Charlotte's team in person this year.
This season marks the return of the Hornets nickname to the Queen City after 10 years of horrible basketball under the even worse monicker the Charlotte Bobcats. It's easy to see that fans are all-in on the new brand, as the Time Warner Cable Arena stands have become a sea of Hornets' teal and purple during home games.
Gone are any traces of Bobcat orange and blue, and gone too are the years of subpar play from the franchise.
In a sport where it's exceedingly easy to make the playoffs — more than half the teams do — Charlotte has made the playoffs just twice in the last 10 years. But last season saw the team break into the postseason, and all signs point to a return trip for the 2015 playoffs.
Stars like former Final Four hero Kemba Walker, 10-year NBA veteran Al Jefferson and newly acquired Lance Stephenson highlight the Hornets roster.
The drive from USC to Time Warner Cable Arena is just an hour-and-a-half, and tickets to see the Hornets play start at $20.
The next Charlotte home game sees the Hornets host the Dallas Mavericks on Monday, Nov. 17.
