Clemson takes Palmetto Series

Clemson clinched the Palmetto Series with a 4-1 victory in the rubber game. South Carolina entered the weekend ranked No. 16 in the country in offense, but the Tigers stifled their bats over the last two games of the series, holding them to just one total run.

Clemson freshman Alex Eubanks carved up the Gamecocks in his first career start, working seven and two-thirds innings and striking out eight batters. South Carolina had particular trouble picking up the right-hander's slider. Eubanks lived in the zone all afternoon, locating 69.4 percent of all of his pitches for strikes.

Both teams collected seven hits, but South Carolina was just 1-8 with runners on base, while the Tigers were 5-14.

While South Carolina's starter Taylor Widener struggled in three innings of work, Josh Reagan kept the Gamecocks in the game with a stellar performance out of the pen. Reagan worked four and two-thirds scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and two walks. Reagan has not allowed an earned run this season.

South Carolina will look to get back on track against Wofford at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
