In the wake of recent allegations about Tina Roy’s use of performance enhancing hair products, Ringo * landed an exclusive interview with the infamous 'do. The NCAA released a statement on Monday outlining their plan to investigate reports suggesting Roy may have used conditioners and mousse that are on the association’s banned product list. South Carolina could face severe sanctions and could possibly be stripped of wins from the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 seasons.
Ringo *: Thank for agreeing to talk Ms. Hair, in light of the current allegations, I have to ask: What exactly is your side of the story?
Hair: To be honest, I see this as an insult to my integrity. Growing up, the greats were just accepted. In our society, the instant reaction is to knock people off their pedestal for no reason.
Ringo *: With all 'do, pun not intended, respect, you never move. Ever. You are always perfect.
Hair: It’s all natural, boo.
Ringo *: So what is your secret?
Hair: Nice try. I’ve said in the past olive oil shampoo is a big part of it. I use relaxers, I have never denied that. But nothing illegal. That is all I am going to say.
Ringo *: You have been described as “mesmerizing." What kind of advantage do you give Tina out on the court?
Hair: A pretty significant one, I think. I can be a distraction to opposing players. Everything starts from the top down. When I am on fleek,it is pretty hard to guard Tina.
Ringo *: What is your relationship with Tina like?
Hair: Mutual respect. I don’t frizz up, she doesn’t wear hats when she gets out of the shower. We are a team.
Ringo *: One last question: What are your inspirations?
Hair: To be honest, I think I am a trailblazer. I have never mimicked other styles. I loved Jennifer Hudson’s hair in Dreamgirls. That level of excellence hasn’t really been matched since.
Ringo *: In basketball?
Hair: Certainly a different style, but it has to be Rodman’s hair. Probably the greatest hair the game has seen. A true genius.
