Four-star DE commits to Gamecocks

Will Muschamp reeled in another prized recruit Friday, as the Gamecocks picked up a commitment from four-star defensive end M.J. Webb. Webb took to Twitter to announce the news, posting pictures with some coaches, including Muschamp, who had been recruiting the Georgia native while coaching at Auburn in 2015.

Webb's commitment shows the momentum Muschamp is building around the program, as the 6-foot-3, 271-pounder had offers from nine other SEC schools, Clemson, Ohio State, Michigan State, Notre Dame and many other top level programs.

Webb is the fourth four-star recruit to commit to South Carolina for the 2017 class and the third this month, joining T.J. Moore and Hamsah Nasirildeen.

ESPN ranks Webb as the 16th-best defensive end in the class, and he's securely within the ESPN300, ranked as No. 220.

With Webb's commitment, the Gamecocks now have 20 commits for the 2017 class, which is ranked by 247 Sports as No. 16 in the nation.
