Men's tennis supplements talent with addition of Scotty Cameron

The Gamecocks’ men’s tennis program announced that recruit Scotty Cameron would be joining the team this season. Cameron is currently a junior in high school, although he will now be eligible to play this upcoming season.

The Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, product is ranked as one of the top junior players in the country. TennisRecruiting.net has him rated as a four-star recruit and has ranked him as high as No. 52 nationally. Cameron is the No. 2 player in his class from South Carolina.

The Gamecocks were elated to add the in-state star to their already young, talented roster. Head coach Josh Goffi showed his excitement about the recent addition when he said, “We’re truly excited for Scotty to join the team. He has a wealth of natural talent that we’re excited to continue to develop.”

It remains to be seen how much playing time Cameron will get this season. The Gamecocks return everyone from last year’s team, so Cameron will have to really impress the coaches in the coming weeks if he hopes to earn significant playing time.

No matter how much playing time he gets during the 2016-2017 season, Cameron is a great addition to the program in the long term. Goffi continues to show his recruiting prowess by getting another heralded player to join the Gamecocks.
