SCOTUS justice to address December graduation

USC's December commencement will feature a Supreme Court justice. Associate Justice Stephen Breyer will serve as guest speaker at the Dec. 18 ceremony for graduates receiving bachelors, masters and professional degrees.

Breyer, who has sat on the court since 1994, will be awarded an honorary doctorate of public service. 

He will be joined at the ceremony by National Transportation Safety Board chairman Robert L. Sumwalt III, who will receive an honorary doctorate of science degree. Sumwalt is a USC alumnus.

USC professor John Monnier was also announced as speaker for December's doctoral hooding ceremony.
