Playlist of the week: Talking computer

Electronic music is inherently technological and often computerized, but its development has gone far beyond its initial industrial and natural sounds. Today, producers can manipulate sounds in ways they never could before.

Words take a backseat in this playlist to intense drum programming and lush sound design. Songs like “Far Nearer” by Jamie xx and “Interlaced” by Les Gordon create a tropical atmosphere, sweeping you through with a steady beat and vocal chops that create indecipherable phrases. Even when you hear a human voice, like in “Air” by Basenji, the sound still sounds like it came out of a synthesizer.

So, when you get tired of hearing the human voice, turn it over to the machine with this playlist.
