TDG's take at the break: South Carolina leads Tennessee, 21-17

Struggling South Carolina offense

Other than a 75-yard touchdown pass to start the game and a couple scoring drives at the end of the half, the Gamecocks have had little success on offense. With senior running back Rico Dowdle out due to injury, redshirt senior Tavien Feaster has had to carry the load on the ground. Feaster has made up yards of South Carolina total rushing yards. However, the Gamecock offense was able to wake up later on the first half with back-to-back scoring drives to end the half.

Phenomenal rush defense. Passing? Not so much.

In the first half, the Gamecocks were able to handle the Tennessee rushing game with the exception of a few big runs, but redshirt junior quarterback Jarrett Guarantano has accounted for 130 yards passing.

Converting on third down

Both teams have had their fair share of third-down plays halfway through the game, but South Carolina has had some difficulty keeping the Volunteers off the field. The Gamecocks are four-for-nine on third down while Tennessee is 50% on third-down conversions, giving the Vols many opportunities to move down the field.
