Graduate transfer Collin Hill announced as South Carolina starting quarterback

The Gamecocks announced earlier today that Colorado State graduate transfer Collin Hill will be starting at quarterback for their opening matchup against the Tennessee Volunteers.

This means last season's starter sophomore Ryan Hilinski will start the season as the backup.

Head coach Will Muschamp said he was pleased with both of his quarterbacks preparation throughout camp but ultimately decided to give the starting nod to Hill.

"We can win with both guys, bottom line," he said.

Muschamp attributed part of the decision to start Hill to his knowledge of newly hired offensive coordinator Mike Bobo, whom he played for previously at Colorado State.

Gamecock fans' first chance to see Hill in action will be Sept. 26 at Williams-Brice Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
