South Carolina men's basketball releases 2020 non-conference schedule

South Carolina released its non-conference men's basketball schedule Wednesday afternoon, unveiling a slate of eight regular-season games highlighted by trips to Kansas City, Houston and Washington, D.C.

The Gamecocks open regular season play Nov. 28 with a visit to Kansas City for the Hall of Fame Classic. They begin against a Northwestern team that lost some key pieces and finished near the bottom of the Big Ten in 2019-20. That result will lead to a game against another Top 100 opponent in either Tulsa or TCU.

The Gamecocks will then stay on the road to face Houston on Dec. 5. Coach Kelvin Sampson brings in a perennial Top 25 team returning nearly their whole squad from last year's 23-8 finish.

South Carolina will then play their home opener Dec. 10 against in-state rival Wofford and look to beat the Terriers after falling 81-61 in 2018.

To finish the road non-conference slate, the Gamecocks will visit Foggy Bottom in Washington, D.C., on Dec. 14 to face the George Washington Colonials. Coach Jamion Christian's MAYHEM style will force the Gamecocks to face constant pressure.

The Gamecocks face Clemson at home Dec. 19, seeking their second straight win over the Tigers after snapping a three-game losing streak in 2019. South Carolina will finish its non-conference slate against two MEAC teams in South Carolina State and Florida A&M.

South Carolina begins SEC play on December 29th at Kentucky.
