Junior wide receiver Corey Rucker (No.16) stands on the sidelines during the South Carolina's matchup with Missouri game on Oct. 29, 2022. Rucker sustained a foot injury during the South Carolina pre-season camp over the summer that will now require surgery and keep him on the sidelines for the rest of the season.

South Carolina head football coach Shane Beamer announced today that junior wide receiver Corey Rucker will miss the remainder of the 2022 season due to a lingering foot injury.

Rucker also confirmed his season was over and that he would undergo surgery through posts on his Instagram and Twitter accounts.

"(Rucker is) having surgery today and will be done and hopefully we'll get him back, hopefully he'll be ready to roll for spring practice," Beamer said.

Rucker suffered the injury during preseason camp, and it restricted him to just two appearances for the Gamecocks this year.

Rucker made his season debut against Charlotte on Sept. 24, where his lone reception resulted in a 52-yard touchdown. He also played some snaps against South Carolina State on Sept. 29.

Before joining the Gamecocks, Rucker spent the first two years of his collegiate career at Arkansas State, where he caught 75 passes for 1,279 yards and 14 touchdowns over 20 games. He was named a Freshman All-American and made an appearance on the Second-Team All-Sun Belt in 2021 after totaling 59 receptions, 826 yards and nine touchdowns.
