The South Carolina football team defeated Coastal Carolina 51-7 Saturday night at Williams-Brice Stadium to end a five-game losing streak.

Before the game, South Carolina honored 23 seniors as a part of its Senior Day festivities. Some of these players included quarterback Luke Doty, edge rusher Bryan Thomas Jr. and defensive back DQ Smith, who all spent their entire collegiate careers at South Carolina

On the very first play of the game, freshman wide receiver Jayden Sellers scored a 75-yard touchdown to put the Gamecocks up 7-0.

After Coastal punted the ball back to South Carolina, Jayden Sellers caught a 42-yard pass to put the Gamecocks in the red zone, before redshirt sophomore quarterback LaNorris Sellers finished the drive with a 2-yard touchdown run. South Carolina failed to convert a 2-point conversion which kept the lead at 13-0

Thomas then forced a fumble to give the Gamecocks the ball once again, this time starting the drive at the Coastal Carolina 29-yard line

South Carolina capitalized on the good field position with redshirt senior tight end Brady Hunt scoring a 1-yard touchdown run to put the Gamecocks up 20-0 midway through the first quarter. This was the first touchdown Hunt has scored as a Gamecock

On their first drive of the second quarter, the Gamecocks went on an eight-play, 77-yard scoring drive that freshman wide receiver Donovan Murph ended with a 3-yard touchdown reception in the back of the end zone

The Gamecocks expanded their lead to 34-0 after LaNorris Sellers scored a 5-yard rushing touchdown. This was the first game since last year's 17-14 win over Clemson that LaNorris Sellers rushed for multiple touchdowns in a game.

South Carolina redshirt senior William Joyce hit a 47-yard field goal to put the Gamecocks up 37-0 to end the first half. Through the first half, South Carolina had 419 yards of total offense compared to just 137 from Coastal Carolina

On Coastal Carolina’s opening drive of the second half, the Chanticleers took the ball all the way down to the South Carolina 17-yard line before failing a fourth-down conversion

South Carolina responded with Hunt scoring a 1-yard rushing touchdown, which ended a 13-play drive that took over six minutes off the clock.

The Chanticleers avoided a shutout after redshirt senior wide receiver Jameson Tucker scored a touchdown by blocking a South Carolina punt

Following the blocked punt, graduate student running back Bradley Dunn scored the final points of the game after a 1-yard rushing touchdown to make 51-7, finishing a drive that took over seven minutes off the clock and began on the Gamecocks' own 15-yard line.

LaNorris Sellers ended the night with 274 yards on 16 completions and two passing touchdowns. He also ran the ball for 82 yards and two touchdowns.

Jayden Sellers led the team in receiving yards with 127 and tied Murph for the most catches and touchdowns

Redshirt junior linebacker Shawn Murphy had 12 total tackles, eight of which were unassisted. He also finished the game with a career high in tackles-for-loss with 2.5.
