South Carolina volleyball wrapped up the 2025 regular season with an overall record of 10-16 and 4-11 in conference play. The Gamecocks played a 26-match schedule that included 10 home matches, 14 road games and two neutral-site appearances.
The Gamecocks got off to a solid start in non-conference play, opening the year 6-4 before SEC play started. A key game came on Sept. 20, when it swept the USC Upstate Spartans 3-0, closing out its non-conference schedule with a season-high hitting percentage of .391 and 11 total blocks in the match. That win marked South Carolina’s third sweep of the season, giving them momentum heading into SEC competition.
The transition to SEC play proved challenging, but the Gamecocks earned some notable wins along the way. On Oct. 12, they defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks 3-1 in Fayetteville, and it was also the first SEC win for head coach Sarah Rumely Noble.
However, consistency proved to be a challenge. The Gamecocks fell in three straight sets to the Alabama Crimson Tide on Oct. 19, which marked South Carolina’s seventh conference loss at that time in the season.
The 2025 season’s highlight came on Nov. 2, when South Carolina upset the No. 25 Florida Gators 3-1 at home, a win over a ranked opponent that added a spark to the season.
In the final home match of the regular season, South Carolina delivered a strong performance, sweeping the Ole Miss Rebels. The match showcased a balanced offensive attack: junior outside hitter Nia Hall led the offense with nine kills, while senior outside hitter Alayna Johnson contributed eight.
On defense, sophomore libero Victoria Harris recorded 11 digs, and the front line put up 11 blocks, its seventh match of the season with 10 or more blocks. South Carolina hit .365 as a team, recording the highest hitting mark in conference play and its second highest overall of the season.
The sweep gave the Gamecocks a more positive finish at home before the final regular-season matchup.
The final match came on Nov. 16, when South Carolina travelled to face the No. 4 Texas Longhorns which the Gamecocks lost 3-1. Despite the loss, South Carolina had a balanced offensive showing, with six players recording four or more kills, and three reached double-digit kills. Defensively, Harris totaled 19 digs in her 20th match of the season with double-digit kills, while the defense recorded nine blocks.
The 2025 season was one of fluctuation for the Gamecocks. They showed glimpses of strong potential, particularly during non-conference play, and in standout victories such as the wins over Florida and Ole Miss. However, conference play remained a challenge, as reflected in its overall SEC record.
"I'm super proud of the resiliency and fight of my team," head coach Sarah Rumely Noble. "It was a great showing by our team...A big shout out to Gamecock Nation who supported us all season long!"
Looking ahead, momentum from the non-conference success and the mix of veteran presence and emerging newcomers could serve as the building blocks for future seasons.
