Joe DeCamillis, former South Carolina special teams coordinator and associate head coach, will return to the NFL after spending two seasons with the Gamecocks, first reported by Matt Zenitz of CBS. He will be the special teams coordinator for the Las Vegas Raiders.

In DeCamillis’ second season with South Carolina, he was nominated for the Broyles Award, honoring the best assistant head coach in college football. DeCamillis acted as a mentor to Freshman All-SEC and second-ranked freshman punter Mason Love as well as Freshman All-SEC honors kickoff specialist Max Kelley.

Under DeCamillis’ coaching, defensive back and punt returner Vicari Swain earned All-SEC as a returner and was named a finalist for the Jet Award. In the 2024 season, DeCamillis helped coach former Gamecock punter Kai Kroeger, helping him earn the coaches’ selection as the All-SEC punter. Kroeger is now the starting punter for the New Orleans Saints.

From 1991 to 2022, DeCamillis has coached at seven different NFL franchises including the Chicago Bears and Denver Broncos. He is a two-time Super Bowl champion, winning with the Denver Broncos in 2015 and the Los Angeles Rams in 2022.

DeCamillis has worked various positions during his coaching journey, including administrative assistant, assistant head coach and special teams coordinator.

He will be coaching alongside an old colleague in Las Vegas, first-year head coach Klint Kubiak. He and DeCamillis crossed each other's paths in 2016 with the Broncos, when they both worked under Gary Kubiak.
