South Carolina men's basketball head coach Lamont Paris will return in the same role for the 2026-27 season, the school confirmed to David Cloninger of The Post and Courier Tuesday morning.

The report follows the conclusion of the Gamecocks' regular season on Sunday against Ole Miss. The team finished with a 13-18 record, 4-14 versus the Southeastern Conference. South Carolina is the No. 14 seed in the SEC Tournament and will play No. 11 Oklahoma in Nashville, Tennessee, on March 11 at 9:30 p.m.

Paris has been the team's head coach for the last four seasons, posting a record of 62-67 (23-49 SEC). In his second season with the program, Paris led the team to a record of 26-8, earning a trip to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2017. He was named the SEC Coach of the Year for the 2023-24 season.

After the 2023-24 season ended following a first round loss to Oregon, Paris was given a contract extension from South Carolina through the 2029-30 season. That contract runs through March 31 every year, and in 2026, his buyout would be $12.025 million on or after that date.

Across the last two seasons, South Carolina is 25-38 and 6-30 against the SEC. This season, the Gamecocks ranked last in the conference at 75.0 points per game. The team also ranked last in field goal percentage and 3-point percentage, as well as in rebounds and blocked shots on the season.
