South Carolina women's basketball is adding to its roster for the first time this offseason — Texas Longhorns' sophomore guard Jordan Lee is transferring to the school, according to On3's Talia Goodman.
Head coach Dawn Staley alluded to the acquisition of Lee on X, formerly Twitter, prior to Goodman's report Thursday evening. The ex-Longhorn was also spotted while on an official visit to the school Tuesday night at South Carolina's home baseball game against Davidson.
Lee, a 6-foot-tall native of Stockton, California, was Texas' second-leading scorer last season with an average of 13.2 points per game. That output was a 7.4 points per game increase from her freshman season.
In addition to her scoring, Lee averaged 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game last season. She brings defensive prowess to the Gamecocks' new-look back court as well, averaging 1.5 steals per game in 2025-26. That rate will help to replace the defensive contributions of guards Raven Johnson and Ta'Niya Latson, of whom averaged 1.5 and 1.7 steals per game, respectively. The tandem was each selected in Monday's WNBA draft.
Posting success rates of 42.2% from the field and 34.8% from the 3-point line in 38 total starts, Lee helped the Longhorns to a 2-1 record over the Gamecocks' last season. In Texas' SEC Tournament championship win, she notched 12 points, four rebounds and three assists. She shot 5-9 from the field (55.6%) and knocked down both of her 3-point attempts.
Lee averaged 8.7 points against South Carolina across a grand total of seven matchups in the last two seasons. The Gamecocks are 4-3 against Texas since 2024-25.
Following junior guard Tessa Johnson and sophomore guard Maddy McDaniel, Lee will become the Gamecocks' third-oldest guard on the roster at 20 years old when the season starts in the fall. She accompanies the addition of incoming-freshman guard Jerzy Robinson, the top-ranked guard in the 2026 class and the third-ranked player in the nation. Robinson officially signed Wednesday with South Carolina.
The Gamecocks' season concluded on April 5 in a loss to UCLA in the national championship game. South Carolina will be without three of its five starters from that game next season.
