After picking up its first conference win over the weekend with a 3-0 sweep at Missouri, junior right-hander Amp Phillips was named the Southeastern Conference's Co-Pitcher of the Week following a career outing to secure the series win.

Phillips is South Carolina's third player to earn SEC Player of the Week honors, with junior pitcher Josh Gunther and freshman infielder Will Craddock previously earning SEC Pitcher of the Week and Freshman of the Week honors, respectively

In the 1-0 win against the Tigers, Phillips pitched 8.0 shutout innings with a season-high 10 strikeouts and one walk, moving to 3-4 on the year and picking up his first SEC win

"The story of the game was Amp Phillips," interim head coach Monte Lee said postgame. "He just put us on his shoulders and carried our team tonight. I'm just so proud of him, and it was great to get a series win."

So far this season, Phillips has a 2.17 ERA through nine starts with 56 strikeouts, 22 walks and 15 runs given up in 49.2 innings of work.
