As Hurricane Matthew began to threaten the state of South Carolina, Gamecock fans everywhere were reminded of last year’s football game against LSU, where the “home” game was played in Baton Rouge. With a home matchup against rival Georgia scheduled for the date when rain could flood the Midlands in addition to the Lowcountry, many started to assume South Carolina would surrender another home game to a different location.

Williams-Brice Stadium. An announcement from the university is expected Thursday morning regarding the time and date of the football game, though the location of the game is not in question.

South Carolina's schedule was set up fairly well for Will Muschamp's team to start the season on a strong note before really getting into the gauntlet of October and November. Unfortunately for the Gamecock faithful, South Carolina squandered opportunities for key SEC victories against Mississippi State, making the likelihood of a bowl bid incredibly low.
