The South Carolina basketball teams have gotten off to a great start this season, as both the men’s and women’s squads have opened the season undefeated. The women have quality wins over then-sixth-ranked Ohio State and 2015 WNIT champion UCLA. The men have taken down four mid-major opponents, putting them in the championship of the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam against Tulsa.

In Orlando, roommates Gabriel Friedrich and Harrison O’Keefe found themselves on opposite sides of the court in the championship match of the Gold Draw at the USTA Clay Court Invitational. Friedrich earned the trophy and bragging rights, defeating O’Keefe 6-3, 6-7 (0), 6-4.

The South Carolina women’s soccer team begins postseason action Wednesday when the fifth-seeded Gamecocks take on the fourth-seeded Auburn Tigers in Orange Beach, Alabama. The Gamecocks are looking to repeat a similar result to the team’s 2-0 win over Auburn on Oct. 8.

On the night South Carolina honored the team’s eight seniors, senior defenders Emily Bollinger and Carly Ray combined for three goals in the opening 15 minutes. This sparked a 4-0 win over the Tennessee Volunteers. The night was particularly special for Bollinger and Gray, as neither had scored a collegiate goal coming into the game.

On a cold, rain-soaked night in Stone Stadium, the South Carolina men’s soccer team shined, defeating conference foe Florida International 2-0. The win moved the Gamecocks to the top of the Conference USA table, putting them higher than Kentucky and UNC Charlotte, both of whom defeated South Carolina during the team’s recent three-game skid.

Led by junior Katelyn Dambaugh and senior Sarah Schmelzel, the Gamecocks women’s golf team finished ninth in the Annika Intercollegiate Tournament in Reunion, Florida. The team finished at eight-over after the three-day tournament, but Dambaugh and Schmelzel stood out, with their respective nine-under and six-under scores earning each individual a top 10 finish.
