USC plans to launch new sport psychology degree, environmental law certificate in 2025

Pending approval, USC plans to launch a degree in applied sport psychology and counseling and an environmental law and sustainability post-baccalaureate certificate in 2025. The hope is that the new degree will help teach students how mental health can affect a player's performance, while the certificate will look at training participants in how they can help make business practices more sustainable.

The Maxcy Residence Hall building on Feb. 25, 2024, which currently houses international students on the Horseshoe. The residence hall is set to transition from an international student hub to a first-generation living & learning community for the fall semester of 2024.

Honors College class digs for artifacts on Horseshoe, educates on history of enslaved people

Students a part of a USC Honors College class are conducting archeological excavations on the Horseshoe. The class hopes to find objects that could help tell the stories of enslaved people who once resided on campus.

Gamecock Consulting Club members beat 11 international business schools in Norway case competition

Four students from USC's Gamecock Consulting Club won an international case competition in Bergen, Norway, in October. The students said that having a team where everyone could trust and rely on each other's strengths was a key factor in their success.

USC LGBTQ+ Alumni Council announces endowment scholarship

USC's LGBTQ+ Alumni Council is raising money for a scholarship rewarding student advocates on campus. Once the fund hits its $25,000 goal and collects interest, a third-year student committed to fostering inclusivity will begin receiving $2,000 in aid.

There needs to be a more accessible way for students who are trigged by mandatory Title IX education to opt out of completing it. For some past victims of sexual violence, the training can reopen old wounds, and the university has few options for opting out of the program.
