K-12 education neglected in South Carolina

State should focus attention on offering students career, technical training Since the beginning of the school year, when tuition rose 6.9 percent, USC students, myself included, have rightly cringed at the mention of “budget cuts” by South Carolina state officials. South Carolina funding per student for public higher education already ranks next to last in the 16-state Southern Regional Education Board — and with federal stimulus funding drying up after this year, there’s nowhere to go but down. Even so, another group within this state has it far worse: K-12 public schools.
