Basketball program needs monitoring
With the departure of Ramon Galloway and Stephen Spinella from our basketball team Tuesday, I think that it is prime time to re-evaluate Darrin Horn's job here at USC.
It is pretty sad that Spinella, with as mediocre of a performance as he had this season, can think, on any level, that he is too good for our team. I am an ardent Carolina fan, including our basketball program, and I think it is time to change the direction our program is heading in.
I believe that acquiring Bruce Pearl to take over a team that seems to be spinning out of control is in our best interest. Although plighted in controversy right now, Pearl is an outstanding coach, and though you may not like his personal demeanor, having an opportunity to acquire a coach of his tenacity is an opportunity not readily given to the men's basketball program at USC. Not only does Pearl have the passion and fire our program needs, more importantly, he wins, and he does so immediately.
Even if none of this comes to fruition, I think that it should at least be a thought that gets entered into discussion.
