"All the coaches were really noticing the difference in our team speed," Spurrier said. "We have a fast team. Hopefully we'll have a team that can really play well."
All-American wide receiver Alshon Jeffery was held out of practice as a precaution after being in a car accident Tuesday. Spurrier said Jeffery, who was rear ended, had a sore back and may be held out a few more days, but there is no cause for concern about the junior's status going forward.
Spurrier also announced a change to the previously-stated policy of closing the remainder of preseason practices to the public. Thursday's practice and each other day's for the next week or so will be open to the public, Spurrier said, remarking that if NFL teams open training camp practices to the public, college teams might as well do the same.
USC will return to the Proving Grounds at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
