Letter from SG President Tracy: SG reps look to better USC experience

My name is Kenny Tracy and it is a pleasure to be serving as your Student Body President. I, along with Vice President Chase Mizzell and Treasurer Coy Gibson, are excited to be serving as your executive officers for the upcoming year.

We’ve begun working on some initiatives that will improve life on campus for students. We have started working on an improved advisement system, an on-campus student food pantry, a ride-share program, better organizational outreach and increased safety on campus. Due to recent concerns with safety around campus, this last point is an especially important issue. We are making efforts to make students feel safer while on campus.

Beyond the executive officers, leaders in the Senate and the Cabinet have begun working diligently on their respective initiatives. Each month, we will be recognizing two outstanding Student Government members who have been particularly hardworking.

For his dedication to student safety, we would like to recognize Secretary of Safety and Transportation Erik Singleton. Erik has displayed initiative in repairing call boxes and lighting issues around campus as well as beginning to address shuttle and parking needs of students.

College of Arts and Sciences Sen. Aubrie Frye has exemplified great leadership and dedication to the student body. As a member of the Powers and Responsibilities Committee, Senator Frye is working to advance the Senate and make it a more efficient body.

One of the main things we are working on this year is reaching out to students and seeking feedback on our projects. Contact us if you have any questions, ideas or concerns at sastgov@mailbox.sc.edu. We in SG are all looking forward to a great year!
