An introvert's New Year: Songs for making and breaking resolutions

This new year, you'll probably go out. You might go to your favorite dive downtown. Maybe you were invited to a black tie gala. Maybe you'll round up your favorite friends from high school and watch the ball drop from the comfort of your childhood home.

Wherever you end up, you could easily get swept up in the cheap, sparkly bravado of the holiday. It's easy to brush it off as another silly excuse for a night out or a corporate scheme by CrossFit gyms and stationary bike companies to pawn off year-long memberships and home exercise equipment on unsuspecting resolution-makers.

But this year, whether you're resolving to regain your beach body or just looking for a reason to bar hop with old friends, I invite you to pause what you're doing and hit play. Listen to these songs, consider all (good, bad, and in between) that 2018 brought — the people you spent it with, the changes that came your way, things you loved and hated and learned — and make room for a new year.
