A Carolina Alert gave an "ALL CLEAR" message, following reports of an active shooter at Thomas Cooper Library on Sunday afternoon. Campus is operating normally, and the library will reopen at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, according to a university press release.

Earlier, University Spokesperson Jeff Stensland said there were no confirmed injuries. A report sent to students emails at 7:48 added that emergency services were treating "a couple of students with minor injuries that occurred during evacuation."

According to the press release, university police received a report of gunfire at around 6:30 p.m. The release added that police have uncovered no evidence that a shooting occurred.

"Videos circulating on social media purporting to show a suspect carrying a firearm are false," the release read. "There have been false gunfire reports at universities across the country in recent days and tonight's incident remains under investigation."

A Carolina Alert sent out on Sunday afternoon said an active shooter was at the library. Another alert described the suspect as a six-foot-tall white male. A later alert stated there was no evidence of an active shooter.
