The NCAA has reached a decision regarding graduate running back Rahsul Faison, granting him an additional year of eligibility to play for South Carolina in the 2025-26 season.

On Aug. 1, Faison was granted a practice waiver by the NCAA, but had still not been cleared to suit up for the Gamecocks. While this will be his seventh year in college football, he has only played three full seasons with 25 of those games being at the FBS level.

Faison transferred to South Carolina from Utah State in the winter, where he earned second-team All-Mountain West Conference honors after rushing for 1,109 yards and eight touchdowns on 198 carries last season. He also ranked fourth in the Mountain West Conference in rushing with 92.4 yards per game and five 100-yard rushing games.

This decision comes six days before the first game of the season for the Gamecocks. Faison will add experience to the running back room alongside graduate running back Oscar Adaway and Colorado transfer junior running back Isaiah Augustave.

Faison and the South Carolina football team will play their first game against Virginia Tech on Sunday, Aug. 31, in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. The game’s kickoff is at 3 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN.
