Every year, along with the rest of the country, I make the painful attempt to set an unbelievably vague goal that will inevitably be shoved under the rug when my other priorities take precedent. “Exercise more. Stress less. Make new friends. Save money. Travel.” These wannabe resolutions are doomed to self-sabotage before the first week of 2016 even ends.

For the first time in what seemed like weeks, the sun was shining bright on Columbia on the morning of Veterans Day 2015. Thousands of South Carolinians flocked to Sumter Street, including people of all ages and, of course, United States military veterans.

These days, the hit radio stations are playing a variety of music genres, and obviously some songs are better than others. Some have inspired us, pumped us up and been the background music to the best months of our lives — summertime. Others are overplayed and we wish they’d move on to something new already. Every year, college students are forced to buy expensive and often obsolete textbooks and reading materials. We waste our parents’ money on reading materials that we don’t want to — and often don’t end up needing to — read. The passages and research that we do end up skimming can be incredibly boring or difficult to get to, so we start associating reading with that horrible, uninterested feeling.

Tame Impala’s latest album “Currents” will submerse you completely in the genre, but it makes the ride an easy one. Called a “soundtrack to life’s turbulent flow,” the album showcases singer Kevin Parker’s talent as well as the fact his genuine excitement and happiness with making music.

When “The Three Musketeers” begins, audiences will be immediately blown away by the tremendous amount of costuming, lighting and construction detail that went into the production of this play. Showing from April 17 to 25 in Drayton Hall Theatre, this show is one for the books.
