South Carolina's flagship university will hire 42 qualified faculty to join its ranks in the coming year. Then, it plans to bring another 60 on board by 2012.
Those messages and sermons never really stay with me after the day has passed. I can't remember any of the names of the victims, terrorists or first responders. It's hard for me to think of any of it when it is mentioned. It makes me feel bad to do so.

Unfortunately, the reality is that only 150 students will be in the student section for the away game at Georgia this Saturday. USC seems to be taking a step in the right direction. In October, it will offer bonuses to some faculty members who make less than $100,000 per year. We commend the university for allocating the funds to dole out these bonuses. It's nice to see good performance appreciated and lower-paid employees shown financially just how much they matter.Keep in mind, these people haven't had a raise since 2008. We can all agree it's about time.
