Tennis falls 4-3 to Ole Miss

The USC women’s tennis team got out to a strong start in its first match of the SEC tournament, winning the doubles point to take an early lead. But eighth-seed South Carolina couldn’t keep the advantage, falling 4-3 to 39th-ranked Ole Miss in the second round.

	USC pitcher Julie Sarratt allowed just five hits and two runs in the Gamecocks’ loss to Georgia on Sunday.

Softball drops home games against Bulldogs

Softball coach Beverly Smith passed along simple advice to pitcher Julie Sarratt. The result was one of Sarratt’s best outings of the season against Georgia. But it wasn’t enough for South Carolina, as the Gamecocks lost their last two games of the series. Heading into Sunday’s finale, the series was tied at 1-1. South Carolina won the opener 6-2 but dropped Saturday’s contest 7-6. USC has lost all five of its SEC series this season.

Rutqvist competes at national meet

South Carolina’s women’s swim team officially concluded its season as junior Amanda Rutqvist completed her performance at the NCAA Championship in Indianapolis.
