Letter to the editor: Attacks on SBC leader unwarranted

Organization not advocate of hate I am writing in response to Cassie Stanton's article entitled "Honorary degree recipient criticized." There are a few things I would like to point out about this article and the story of Reverend Wright. I want to express my concern for the students who are quoted in the story who basically attack Rev. Wright's character. They associate him with being an advocate of hate, and of not representing USC positively. While I have never met Rev. Wright, I can assure that you he is not an advocate of hate. The religion which he represents is one which teaches that we are to love people. Yes there are viewpoints that disagree with the Southern Baptist Convention, and it is his job to make sure that the integrity of the SBC is maintained, but that by no means makes him an "advocate of hate."
