Ashley Reynolds speaks at a student senate meeting at the Russell House on April 1, 2026. Reynolds resigned from her position as student body treasurer.

At the April 1 meeting of the student senate, Student Body Treasurer Ashley Reynolds announced she is resigning from the position for personal reasons. She said she is willing to assist in the transition of the next treasurer and help out Student Government members if they need anything.

“This job has meant the world to me, and I can't tell you how much I love it, and I hope whoever does it next is going to have an amazing time,” Reynolds said.

Student Body President Cole Rotondo will assume the responsibilities of the treasurer’s office until a new one is appointed. Rotondo is also responsible for nominating a new treasurer within five university days, who will then be confirmed by the student senate.

According to Rotondo, to assist in the search, he has created an advisory committee. It will include Student Body Vice President Myron Harris, Speaker of the Student Senate Kiki D’Apolito, Vice Chair of the Senate Finance Committee Benjamin Roach and Student Government advisors. Rotondo said they plan to interview a minimum of five candidates.

The senate passed three bills during the meeting. Two of the bills regard increasing the number of Student Government members in its communications and outreach teams. Both were sponsored by Chairman of the Finance Committee Thomas Spurgeon and Speaker Pro Tempore Matthew Frye.

The passed legislation also amends the fourth chapter of the Student Government codes in regard to elections and the elections commission. This bill was sponsored by Sen. Maura Hamilton.

A recommendation sponsored by Sen. Tyler Morgan to give part-time students the same ticketing rights at USC sporting events as full-time students was tabled indefinitely.

The student senate will meet again on April 8 in the Russell House Theater.
