Sophomore wide receiver Jayden Sellers and senior transfer wide receiver Jayden Gibson suffered season-ending lower body injuries at practice this week, South Carolina football announced.
Jayden Sellers, younger brother to redshirt junior quarterback LaNorris Sellers, appeared in seven games for the Gamecocks last season, starting two. He hauled in 22 catches for 337 yards, averaging 15.3 yards per reception. In South Carolina's penultimate game of the season, he accrued a season-high 127 yards thanks to a 75-yard touchdown pass in the win over Coastal Carolina.
Gibson transferred to South Carolina this past offseason following four seasons at Oklahoma. He appeared in 22 games with the Sooners, grabbing 15 receptions for 387 yards and five touchdowns.
“I am extremely disappointed for both of these young men,” Head Coach Shane Beamer said. “I know how hard each of them has worked over the spring and summer in getting ready for 2026 to help our team. I have full confidence they will both overcome the adversity they’re facing, and we will help them in whatever way we can throughout the rehab process moving forward.”
