We’ve all been there — it's 10 p.m., you have an assignment due at midnight, but that statistics homework is just not that captivating. Here's where Netflix comes in. While binge-watching "Grey's Anatomy" for the third time is a little bit too consuming, here are four 30 minute shows to mindlessly enjoy when you know you should be doing something else. They are entertaining, easy to follow and the perfect distraction before you finally finish the work you’ve been avoiding.
The intensity of the entertainment industry and the glamour of Hollywood have bred some talented and iconic figures over the years. It's easy to forget that some of our favorite television and film stars used to lead relatively normal lives; some even grew up right here in South Carolina.
As Spring Break approaches, many students seek to venture into the great unknown and explore new cities or national parks. Witty, wealthy and sinfully handsome, Chuck Bass gave us all unrealistic romance standards and one of the TV world’s best male style icons.
Last year was a year of spectacular cinema but came up particularly short in the quality of new television shows. So here’s a list of five highly anticipated new programs that will hopefully make up for last year’s missteps.
There are very few pure college students left, with regard to social media, and those who have managed to resist and abstain for this long probably have a level of mindfulness that’s long been unattainable for the rest of us. But participating in Facebook, Twitter and Instagram doesn’t have to mean being drawn into a vortex of FOMO and despair every time you sit down to write a Daily Gamecock article (or a paper for a class). There are countless websites dedicated to helping you procrastinate while — maybe, sort of — bettering yourself. Here are a few of my favorites.
The Great American Smoke Out is an annual event hosted by American Cancer Society to encourage smokers to make a plan to quit. This event was held on the Russell House Patio featuring the USC cheerleaders and resources for quitting smoking. Faculty and students were required to play a game of jeopardy or have their picture taken in order to receive a free "cold turkey" sandwich.
