As I finish out my four years here at South Carolina and my time as the editor-in-chief of The Daily Gamecock, I have felt myself labeling everything as the "last.” The last day of class, the last night of production, the last function, the last late-night Cookout run, and this, the last thing I will create for The Daily Gamecock.

As students part from binge-watching sessions, traveling and resting to make their way back to campus, the excitement of spring semester is not too far behind. Many others are finishing up their first year, or for some students like myself, are returning for their last semester at USC. No matter how long you’ve attended USC, the same feeling of anticipation and excitement for the spring semester is always strong.

Heads turned as a crowd of 1,500 walked through downtown Columbia for Walk a Mile in Their Shoes on Thursday evening. The event is known for its unique and fun approach of having men walk a mile in women’s high heels in order to bring attention to sexual violence against women.

The "Walk A Mile In Their Shoes" march will fill the streets of Columbia on Thursday as the community turns out to support victims of domestic violence. The event raises money for the Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands and brings awareness to the free services provided to survivors of sexual assault and abuse.

For many students, the walk to class on Greene Street looked a lot different than usual on Wednesday. Carolina Productions hosted SpringFest 2016, a festival event on Greene Street, complete with inflatables, food trucks, caricature artists, corn hole, a performance by Secret Cirkus and musical sets from student musicians and R.
