USC students memorialize Nate Baker, share concerns about intersection safety

USC students memorialized the loss of Nate Baker in a collision with a truck at the intersection of Assembly and Blossom streets. The story reached national attention after the driver was found to be an undocumented migrant. The Daily Gamecock spoke to 21 students who shared concerns about the safety of the intersection for pedestrians.


USC-Siemens partnership, energy-efficient renovations to campus buildings near completion

USC and global energy company Siemens have completed energy efficiency renovations on five campus buildings, estimated to save the university $8.4 million over 15 years. Some students were unaware of energy efficiency improvements made to campus buildings, but they are expected to improve the comfort and functionality of the buildings, USC's Associate Vice President for Facilities Services Jason Lambert said.

Students aim to improve access to SNAP, address food insecurity on campus

USC's Student Government legislative action network is looking to improve resources for students facing food insecurity by increasing awareness of SNAP benefits and recommending new initiatives. The Gamecock CommUNITY shop is also working to spread awareness and provide students with resources to meet basic needs.
