Nearly 40 donate hair for wigs for cancer patients
For a while Sunday evening, the Russell House Ballroom became a hair salon.
About 40 people had their hair cut off en masse at about 6 p.m. to donate to the Beautiful Lengths program, which takes donations to make wigs for cancer patients.
The event kicked off “Carolina Beautiful: Celebrate Your Body Week,” which marks the National Eating Disorders Week.

— Free yoga at the Strom Thurmond Wellness and Fitness Center at 7:30 p.m.
Tuesday
— A talk by Jenni Schaefer, the author of “Life Without Ed” and “Goodbye Ed, Hello Me,” in the Russell House Ballroom at 8 p.m., hosted by Carolina Productions
Wednesday
— A free Zumba class in the Strom Thurmond Wellness and Fitness Center at 5:30 p.m.
Thursday
— “Me, Myself & My Body,” a discussion about why many students struggle with body image, in the Honors Residence Hall, room B110, at 5:30 p.m.
Saturday
— A local National Eating Disorders Association walk from 1:30 to 3 p.m., starting at the Carolina Children’s Home, at 3201 Trenholm Road
