— An officer was dispatched to Bates House early on the morning of Feb. 23 in response to a student threatening two resident mentors after an incident involving an intoxicated female in a male resident’s room. The RMs told the officer that the resident told them he was going to get his fraternity pledge brothers and “f--- [them] up.” He then proceeded to call his pledge brothers, prompting the RMs to call the police. The resident was not at Bates House at that time but was arrested an hour later after being found extremely drunk. He was ultimately charged with possessing beer underage.

— An officer responded to reports of suspicious activity in Bates House early on the morning of Feb. 24. Upon arrival, a female resident told the officer that around 4 a.m., she woke up to an unknown man standing above her and staring at her while wearing only blue boxers with bananas on them. When she asked what he was doing, he told her he was getting into the bed. She told him that he could not get into her bed, and he continued staring at her without moving. She then had to physically force him out of the room. The officer and RMs searched for the man but could not find him.

— An officer responded to a report of vandalism in the Sumter Street Garage late on the night of Feb. 26. A student told the officer he had witnessed a person scratching four sides of his car with a key and then writing “cheater” on the trunk. The student decided not to press charges but wanted a police report and photos taken for insurance purposes.
