In Columbia: Relax

It’s Friday. What’s a better way to reward yourself at the end of a hard week finding a great place in Columbia to relax? Whether it’s seeing a movie, getting some spa time in or discovering new craft beers, Columbia has a way for you to wind down.

1. Craft and Draft
This new hot spot for craft beer has been in development for over a year now, featuring 12 taps and the chance to fill growlers and create personalized six packs. Spend an afternoon at Craft and Draft trying out new beers and seeing what founders Kellan Monroe and Andrew Johnson are doing in the beer world this week.

2. Freeway Music Festival
Tin Roof and Music Farm are teaming up to bring some of the best local music acts around to Columbia. The fun begins at 1 p.m. and $5 buys you an entire day of music. What’s better is that tours of the new Music Farm will be going on all day, so you can check out the new space while you’re there.

3. Columbia Brew Bus
The Brew Bus launch party is tonight, where you can learn all about the project, sign up for the mailing list and get $5 off of your first ride, and jam out to local bands that Scene SC is playing. The Brew Bus is a company that will take patrons throughout the Columbia craft beer scene with a guided tour, where patrons can taste different beers at each stop, learn about Columbia’s craft beer scene and be safely transported from location to location. The launch party will take place at Craft and Draft, so if you had wanted to visit, now is the perfect opportunity. Launch party is from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

4. The Nickelodeon Theater
Richard Linklater’s “Boyhood,” recently debuted at The Nickelodeon but is currently slated to only be on screen for another six days. The film follows a family through the eyes of the son, Mason, as he and his family grow up. The movie is something that isn’t normally seen in Hollywood, as it was filmed with the same cast over the course of 12 years.
