Feb. 2 around 12:45 p.m., police responded to a shoplifting at Family Dollar on Farrow Road. The suspect, 29-year-old James Lagroon, had concealed a tube of shaving cream in his back pocket and triggered the store security system when he tried to leave without paying. Lagroon asked the police if he could pay for the shaving cream even though he had less than $1 in change. Police found another person's credit card on Lagroon's person, and he was taken into custody.

Three teens charged in fatal Mauldin shooting
Jan. 25 around 8 p.m., five juvenile suspects arrived to the CVS on Assembly Street in a silver Chevrolet. Two suspects entered the store and collected a pair of Phillips earbuds, a gallon of milk, a box of cereal and a variety of other food. The first suspect collected a 24-pack of Bud Light beer and joined the second suspect near the exit. As they left without paying for the merchandise, the second suspect grabbed a teddy bear from a nearby display. The merchandise was worth about $200.

Reports have begun to circulate that a female student was found dead in an apartment at the Hub on Thursday. Police have yet to comment on the reports.

On Thursday, officers responded to a call of an incorrigible male juvenile who was attacking his family. The 37-year-old complainant stated the suspect, her son, was angry that she had removed a box of gemstones he had put in a spare room of their house. The suspect got into an altercation with a second victim, another unnamed juvenile. The suspect held the second victim's face against a couch and squeezed him in a bear hug hard enough to make the second victim cry. The mother told police that she does not know how to control the suspect and is afraid he will hurt her or other family members.
