Obama honors USC research professor

Outten wins presidential award for scientists, engineers In 1993, former President Bill Clinton commissioned the National Science and Technology Council. Since 1996, the U.S. government has been honoring the nation's most promising new researchers and innovators each year with the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers. This year, one of USC's own assistant professors was named among the 85 recipients of this prestigious award to be honored in Washington, D.C., for their scientific contributions to the improvement of society.
